Partnering With Parents

“Partnering with Parents” is a program designed to notify parents when their children come into contact with the police.  This is a voluntary program.

How does it work?  A parent can VOLUNTARILY sign up for the program.  After a parent signs up for the program police will attempt to notify a parent each time police have official contact with their children.  The child has to be under 17 years of age unless there are special needs as to why a parent should be contacted.

Some examples would be – a child is a driver or passenger in a vehicle which is stopped by the police or police come in contact with a child during regular police work such as investigations and/or suspicious activity.

The parent will be updated on the contact and will be allowed to ask questions regarding the contact.

Remember all contacts are not negative. The purpose of the program is to assist the parents in maintaining an open line of communication with the police.  It also provides the parents the opportunity to be aware of incidents regarding their children which they may not normally be aware of.

Remember this is totally voluntary and the notification request can be started and stopped at any time by the parent.  Please complete the attached form and forward to the police department – email, fax or mail to Bennington Police Department, 7 School Street, Bennington, NH 03442.

A parent or legal guardian will have to complete the attach form in order to sign up for this program.
